On October 28th through 30th, our school will welcome Mr. Kevin Martin, local steel drum artist and creator, as an artist in residence. Mr. Martin has served as an artist in residence in several schools across the state of Maryland. During his time with us, Mr. Martin will teach our students the art of playing steel drums as well as the process for their design and creation. Mr. Martin has built a set of steel drums that he will be donating to our school. Our art students have designed paintings that will be applied to the drums. We are looking forward to Mr. Martin’s visit and learning more about the art of steel drum playing. Many thanks to our visual arts teacher, Mrs. Cassels, and our music teacher, Mrs. Cover, for coordinating this exciting visit to our school by Mr. Martin.
